Buddhism is NOT peaceful!! And other side effects of research!

Do you like all of the pictures above? I hope so! To be honest, a few of them worry me a little...but let's not get into that! These are a few of the pictures that are included in my website so far; different images of monsters, deities, and gods and such. Most of these pictures aren't used in anything other than the borders, though. The real important stuff will come later. I'm finally finished with all of the borders and the formatting for the basic pages. Now I can start to figure out the individual profiles and connections between the gods. I finally get to start! Yay!

My topic of mythology seems a little vague, doesn't it? Yeah, it sort of is. However it does connect to the outside world! The point of my website is to show connections between countries and their cultures, be they famous or obscure. In real life, people don't tend to understand the connections they have with others. This project is meant to show those unseen connections through a topic that is typically found to be simple entertainment. I'm going philosophical here, but I believe that joy is an emotion that connects all humans through most forms, and that to teach inner lessons through joy is the ideal way to reach any person.

So what happened today, you may ask. Today our activity was something called "Who am I?", where you get a card with a famous woman on it which you put on your forehead and can't read. You then have to figure out who you are by asking yes or no questions. I had, drum roll please....Ellen DeGeneres! Now....I have seen exactly ONE video of Ellen DeGeneres, which was something a friend of mine sent me to watch because he thought it was hilarious. In this light, I know next to nothing about her. Thankfully, I made lucky guesses out of nowhere which were correct...but not one of them brought me any closer in my mind to guessing my person. Hey, what can I say? I don't watch TV besides old westerns with my stepdad and I certainly am not social media competent. I live under a rock. No, I live in the best rock place ever! A palace of rocks! Cuz life ROCKS, haha, get it?! I love life.

Anyway, I eventually got it and we all headed inside to work on our projects. Today, I decided to ditch tortured characters as a category because I looked into Jigoku, the Japanese Hell. It...is...horrifying. I WAS ONLY THERE TO FIND CHARACTERS WITH HORRIBLE PUNISHMENTS SO I COULD MATCH THEM TO OTHER MYTHOLOGIES!! BUT NO!! I read an entire article on the 16 different and unique realms that Jigoku has, 8 hot and 8 cold, with painfully vivid descriptions on the 8 hot ones. Each one gets worse and worse and I literally cannot describe how horrible they are. And you can get sent to one for something as simple as killing a mosquito without repenting. My friend says she doesn't care because she isn't Buddhist. I tend to pray and repent for every bug I squash but...I am now suddenly urged into repenting even more. I'm so not describing anything that goes on in Jigoku. Let me just say: Greek torture by being roasted alive in a bronze bull? That's cute.

So backing away from THAT lovely topic, I gotta sign off and head out for lunch. Officially, I'm doing four water monsters, four mischievous spirits, four leader gods, and four evil gods from all four mythologies that I've picked. Sorry Tantalus and Petra; I just can't handle looking for more figures with famous punishments. AND THAT IS FINAL. THANKS BUDDHISM. But hey, good news! You get sixteen chances to get out of Jigoku! It can just take one antarakalpa (a measure of time that can't be expressed mathematically) for you to get it. Lovely. Suddenly the cafeteria lunch line doesn't seem so bad.

Love you! Bye!
